Altar Servers
Coordinator:  Fr. Andrew - 884-2105

The Mass is the central act of our community and our source of life together. To serve at the altar is very special and brings with it not only responsibility, but also great pride and joy.

Youth who have received their First Eucharist and are in the 3 rd grade or older are welcome to become altar servers. By preparing the altar, assisting the priest and leading the congregation, they become witnesses to other youth of the parish.

To become an altar server, a boy or girl must attend training sessions. Altar servers and cross-bearers are scheduled on a rotating basis and coordinated with lectors and Eucharistic ministers to accommodate families.

Baptism Preparation
Contact:  Gene and Helen Ripa - 884-3141

The Baptismal program recognizes that parents are the primary educators of their children, therefore, parents are required to attend a Baptism class. The purpose of the session is to deepen the parents' understanding of the sacrament of Baptism, to help the parents begin the process of faith sharing with their child, and to strengthen the family's sense of commitment to the church. We hope that through this sharing of faith, parents will experience being members of the Body of Christ.

Prospective parents are encouraged to attend our Baptism class 3 to 4 months prior to the birth of their child.

The money is then used to assist with parish ministries. Details about this program:

•  Certificates are sold in the parish center after each mass every weekend.

•  They are available in denominations of $10, $20 or $50.

•  Separate certificates must be purchased for each of these stores, but can be used at any location.

•  You may purchase the certificates with cash, credit card, or with a check made out to St. Francis de Sales.

Every candidate will have a sponsor who is actively involved in all the classes and special liturgies that take place during the year. Weekly meetings, which usually consist of prayer, lecture and sharing, are led by various members of our parish family. We try to acquaint candidates with many people in the parish to help them feel welcome and at home. At the end of this program participants receive the sacraments at the Easter Vigil.

Post-Easter meetings focus on living the life of the spirit and sharing more fully in parish activities.
